BEHIND THE LEADER: YASHAR
What is your driving force – what pushes you to do what you do?
I can boil it down to two factors. One, I am a very curious person, always looking to learn more and integrate it into wisdom for myself and others. And two, I genuinely thrive on helping people live a better and more connected life. That moment a client reaches an insight is truly the reason I do this work.
How does your background, education or experience empower you at MINDSHIFT?
I can’t remember a time when I wasn’t interested in learning more about how we can train the mind and body to live a fully empowered life. My studies have always focused on learning the science of the human body, mind, and performance.
The quest for this knowledge is what drives my passion for living my life and teaching others how to do the same.

What is your super MINDSHIFT power?
My ability to connect with people. My clients joke that I have a tattoo on my forehead that reads, “Tell me all your problems.” They say that they feel a sense of comfort, support, and connection. I try to be present, listen carefully, and connect the dots. It’s a privilege and an honour.
What’s an underestimated, yet powerful tool you use?
Asking the right question, and then remaining silent. It is remarkable how much growth and insight can be generated when you allow silence to fill the space after a carefully crafted and meaningful – MINDSHIFTing – question.
Do you have a favourite type of client?
If you want to explore your growth, prosperity, and purpose, and set outside of your comfort zone as a leader, then I am ready to work with you. If you are willing to work hard because you want to improve yourself – and are not looking for the “magic pill” – then I am ready to work with you. If you are willing to commit to all this while creating space for your teammates and colleagues to do the same, then I am ready to work with you.
What makes for a successful MINDSHIFT?
Honouring self, others, science, and spirit. A conscious and consistent choice to mindfully move towards a more purposeful and authentic way of living and working.
What do you do when you need to MINDSHIFT?
I take multiple deep breaths while placing my body in a relaxed, yet confident pose. I repeat a vision, thought, or a favorite quote in my mind until I feel my energy, attitude, and outlook shift. Then I go forward and apply the best of me to the challenge ahead.
What is your biggest MINDSHIFT lesson so far?
Moving steadily, even swiftly at times, while remaining patient.
I have learned that only with a calm heart, and deliberate actions can great things be accomplished.

Bonus question: What is it like working with your sister?
In any business you hope to work with people you trust and respect. For almost 40 years I have looked up to Ayla, and she has supported and challenged me. I have also witnessed her own growth – personally and professionally – over the years. The feeling is less, “I work with my sister,” and more I am grateful to work with someone who I respect, trust, and who empowers me to be my best self – and who also happens to be my best friend and family. I’m very lucky!
